It doesn’t look like The Wonder Year gets into too much of the Little Brother beef, but you never know.

Overall Infamous Quotes is a decent mixtape, but you know if Skillz is involved the major focus is on lyrics. I’m sure I’ll be listening to this for some time pealing back the layers of dudes punch lines and metaphors.

This one is good candidate for the headphones.

I was kind of expecting things to be weird with the kids I hung out with in the commissary, but the conversation quickly turned to the all to familiar bonding subjects of most dudes,,, “PS3 or XBox?”.

After spending some time discussing things I know way to much about like why Mac is better than a P.C., I went back to work, and I started to feel bad about collecting a paycheck and robbing these kids I just joking with. At the end of the day I was more conflicted because the work I was there to do was hard, and exhausting, and I felt like I earned what little money I had coming to me.

The next day I saw a retweet from cdmblogs the Twitter.com home of CreateDigitalMusic.com asking people to help TEMPT sell art made by his eyes. After watching the video at KickStarter.Com I was intrigued with not only donating some of my money to a grassroots project that could help people that don’t full use of there bodies, I was also excited that it merged several of the things I’m passionate about, technology and Hip-Hop culture.

J Dilla: Donut Shop

The beats feel like a continuation of Dilla’s Donuts, but with only six tracks,, it seems like its ends way too quick.

Its been a while for  Lauryn Hill. Check out her newest song Repercussions.

I’m not surprised that new music from Ms. Lauryn Hill is starting to surface before her return to the stage later this summer on the 2010 Rock The Bells Tour.

I’m planing on hitting the D.C. show,, so I hope her voice is well rested after her long break .

If you’ve been up late and decided to watch The Cartoon Network and found yourself nodding your head then you’ve heard the abstract beats of Flying Lotus. Adult Swim uses Fly Lo’s beats as the backdrop for there sometimes weird and minimalist promo’s.

Cosmogramma is Flying Lotus’s new album that its full of lush layered sounds ,blips and complex textured beats that fall somewhere in between Sun Ra and J Dilla. It seems to be smoother and more cohesive than his last album Los Angeles (also a must listen).

The album is packed tight with seventeen cuts and weighs in at about forty five minutes, but it doesn’t feel short or rushed probably due to the complexity of the music.

O.K.,,, I know this is not an album for everyone,, but if your into expanding musical horizons past the limits gravity, check it out.

Madvillain are back to recoding as a group, and is currently working on a new album to be released on Stonesthrow.

The track has a classic Doom flow with laced with a far out Madlib sample, its good but its defiantly feels like an appetizer to a gourmet meal (it was tasty,, but man I’m still hungry!) .

I first heard of Damu on a progressive hip hop show called Subsonic on XM Radio. I think he did some beats for the shows promo.

So, I ditched XM after the merger with Sirrus, but I missed a lot of the flavor of the shows that the merger killed. So when I stumbeled across Over-Time it was like a shot from the not so distant past.

Over-Time is a collage of beats and samples. It’s a little more than a beat tape but not quite a mix tape. Damu channels those old familiar sounds of that 90′s Boom Bap, Hip Hop.

After checking out Over-Time I’m definitely looking forward to checking out some of Damu’s more recent work, and it looks like Damu is dropping a couple of new joints sometime next month, I’ll pick them up next month and let you know how they are
